These coupler sockets were
installed onto 5000 PSI hoses. The reason being so that hoses
of lower pressure ratings could
not accidentally be coupled to a 5000 PSI machine. The plug
can be identified by a V groove cut into the hex portion
of the plug & socket. The balls are larger than the standard
coupler sockets. This larger ball seating in the mating radius
of the XHP plug resists peening of the plug. This peening occurs
when the gun trigger is pulled and the pressure forces the
plug against the coupler balls. This peening is what destroys
the coupler plug. This socket is of the highest quality made
with the body being machined from brass & the sleeve
from 316 stainless steel. It is highly corrosive resistant.
The o-ring is made of Viton to withstand the higher pressures. |
